John Tesh, who was born in Garden City, New York, was introduced to music at an early age by his family, many of whom were musicians. When he got to school, they demanded all of the students play an instrument and he began to play the trumpet, as well continuing his piano studies. He soon added trombone playing to his musical accomplishments.

When he graduated from college, Tesh began his broadcasting career. He is well-known as the co-star of Entertainment Tonight.

In The Late 90's, he returned to music, and began composing and playing many songs for the piano. Many of his early compositions were used for sporting events ("The Games" is one of the songs featured in this book). His music took a romantic turn when he married, and "Concetta", "In A Child's Eyes" and "Wishing For Home", are also found in The John Tesh Collection.
